Château Neercanne is honestly unlike any other place you’ll find in the Netherlands. It’s built on different terraces, which means you’re always looking out over this stunning valley that feels more like the South of France than the outskirts of Maastricht. It definitely has that old-world castle grandeur, but it’s mostly famous for its incredible Michelin-level food and the unique marlstone caves where you can host a party your guests will never forget.
Having your ceremony on the top terrace is a total "wow" moment. You’ve got the symmetrical baroque gardens right below you and the green hills stretching out into the distance. It’s a big, impressive space, but it still manages to feel very personal and cozy. The yellow limestone walls of the castle give the photos a beautiful, warm glow that is really unique to this region. It’s a dream for photography because every corner has a bit of history and great light.
One of the coolest transitions of the day is moving the party into the candlelit caves later in the night. It’s incredibly atmospheric and intimate, providing a huge contrast to the bright, airy terraces from the afternoon. It’s the perfect mix for a wedding: a grand, outdoor ceremony followed by a cozy, soulful evening underground. These photos are all about that balance, being classy and historic, but also warm, full of life, and centered around great food and even better company.
